In commercial areas it is not simply about creating the perfect look. These areas often require widely varying types of material properties and construction methods to be taken into consideration – on the principle of "form follows function". An unusual decor, such as F900 ST9 Artwood Light, makes the rear panel of the reception area the focus of the hotel lobby. Its blue-grey and deep brown elements combine perfectly with the surrounding decors: they pick up on the colour of the reception desk in the decor F697 ST15 Artico Blue, while also creating a vibrant connection with the decor H3704 ST15 Tobacco Aida Walnut on the rear wall. No exciting design should be without contrasting material, and this is accomplished here by using the decor F784 Stainless Steel Microline on the partitions/lounge tables in the seating area.

Unusual and distinctive woods can be used as accents on large expanses. The ZOOM® palette, with its range of everything from elegant to rustic, is ideal for this purpose. A stylish shop design using fashionable materials can be a key component of sales strategy. When choosing a decor for shop interiors, the first task is to think about how the products are being promoted as well as the overall style of the shop. The fittings shown here are for a high-quality fashion shop. With this in mind, the colours and materials for the interior fittings were selected according to a mix of materials on the one hand and subtle and elegant colours on the other.

The F275 ST9 Dark Concrete decor used here is very well suited to product displays because of its relaxing contrasts and elegant tints. It is off set by the decor F483 ST2 Bahama Quartz, which has a metallic yet warm look. H1424 ST22 Woodline Cream and H1428 ST22 Woodline Mocha form a dark-light contrast with each other and have “stood out” because of their deep and distinct linear surface. The design of the floor is very important for customer traffic flow and for separating off individual areas.

Of course, not every shop needs an exclusive atmosphere like the one in this example. More and more emphasis is being placed on the naturalness and elegance of classic woods, which can also be used according to the scope and style of the shop. Fantasy decors in a range of colours, together with exotic and coloured wood decors, can also make great designs. It depends entirely on the products and concept.

In shopfitting the right balance must be struck between atmosphere and intimacy. The FLOORLINE® Collection is ideal for use in commercial situations: Not only are the floors durable and moisture resistant, they form part of the design of the room. At first glance the floors, with the chamfered H2572 Woodstock decor, look similar to industrial parquet, however their oblong shape and lively interplay of colours sets them apart, resulting in a whole variety of combination options.

At exhibitions, the design of the stand depends on several factors. These might include having to take into account corporate identity, the products on display or any fashion statements that are being made. These factors then determine the choice of colour and material. Exhibition stands often involve large areas and simple shapes, which can then be either boldly decorated or subtly highlighted. Create a striking stand with either reserved elegance in white as shown in the example or alternatively use an exotic decor such as H3005 ST22 Grey-Beige Zebrano. F483 ST2 Bahama Quartz or the uni decor U156 ST15 Sand Beige are well suited as neutral-coloured contrasts, since both these shades feature in the Zebrano decor.

Exhibition stand construction revolves around three factors: easy handling, fast fitting and flexible design potential. Simple shapes are increasingly used in domestic interior design, i.e. in the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room. Contemporary furniture items are simple and straight, often with a solid, ‘slab’ appearance. Despite this, living areas must also convey a certain sensuousness and homeliness.

Decors and materials from the ZOOM® Collection allow you to create modern shapes and add warmth and character by giving them a natural or unusual look or by using authentic surface textures. As the motto of the ZOOM® Collection says: “Focus-See-Feel".

Bathrooms will continue to be one of the most important sectors for renovation work. Bright uni colours and light wood decors such as maple and birch used to be in demand. But things have changed dramatically over recent years and contrasts ranging from light colours to brown and mocca-like shades are now being seen.

When combining decors and materials, the best results are usually achieved when colours from a decor range are combined harmoniously with one another. Here, for example, you can see a clever light-dark combination using the decors H1428 ST22 Woodline Mocha and H1424 ST22 Woodline Cream. The Woodline decor has the appearance of a striped, linear softwood in a modern colour. Another key point is the deep-brushed finish, which suits the decor pattern particularly well, and illustrates perfectly the claims of the ZOOM® Collection with regard to a unified appearance and texture.

For a long time, light shades dominated this area, but now colour is making inroads in the bathroom. In particular the general trend is toward dark colours and woods, such as walnut, that provides an opportunity to use intense colours to set accents. However, despite this trend, light woods are also still in fashion. New decor developments in this area offer almost perfect and natural reproductions of classic woods.

The bathroom places not only particular demands on the design, but also on the functionality and resistance of the materials used, particularly with regard to moisture. Moisture-resistant EUROSPAN® core boards and the tried-and-tested EUROFORM® laminate are the ideal materials for high-quality design and optimum functionality.

The thick surface panel and the carcass are made from EUROLIGHT® decor. The lightweight board allows design freedom, while at the same time making transport and fitting on site much easier.

Kitchens are becoming more and more important, as they are increasingly becoming the communication hub of a home. In the kitchen, the trend is very much towards modernism. The mix of materials – in other words the combination of wood, glass, metal and even uni colours – is a key element in the design. Plain effects are best enriched with warm, characterful materials. Wood and uni colours can be combined to form key important design elements and intensive colour accents are deliberately only placed in smaller application areas. It is important that the contrast is neither too hard nor too striking; instead, it should create a harmonious effect.

In this kitchen, the light warm grey decor F274 ST9 Light Concrete has been combined with the cold grey, anthracite-coloured decor F275 ST9 Dark Concrete. As the worktop is being seen more and more as a design element in the kitchen, so its texture is playing an increasingly important role. In this example, the fine sanded, concrete-look texture ST9 Perfect Matt heightens the authenticity and expression in both the look and feel of the concrete decor. The characterful wood decor H178 ST15 Afzelia Butcher-Block brings warmth and naturalness into this kitchen design.

Lively and distinctive woodgrain effects on kitchen fronts demand neutral but interesting combinations to the worktops. On the other hand kitchens with uni coloured fronts need lively and expressive worktop decors. New designs require a variety of combinations both in colour and grain. ZOOM® offers neutral effects with fine interesting details, as well as lively woods, in many effects including butcher-block and striped-woods. Here the tabletop can often be used as part of the design.

Fashionably simple, with straight lines, without being too pure: A modern living room design must meet these contradictory demands. In all wood decors, from light to dark shades, planks, knots and heartwood are being used to satisfy the demand for a more natural appearance. The interplay of colour within a decor is also important for creating in-demand harmonious combinations with neutral uni colours in beige, brown, and grey tones.

With its clear, radiant and intense tone, white is once again a neutral and up-to-the-minute uni colour. In the living room in particular, it has also become indispensable as a combination colour with medium to dark wood decors.
